The Association

Our aim is to draw all who served with 3 Squadron together under one association, regardless of being Independent, Field or Armoured.  Its your Association therefore we need your input, so get those photos posted, pass the word we are up and running, send Pete Markham stories, news, etc, so he can get a monthly newsletter out and let him know what you want to get from the Association and what you want to see on the web site. If you know members without computers no problems, pass there mail address to me and i will post news letters on. The other aim is for yearly reunions, bring your own police bail money.

Brief Unit History

The following comes with a warning, it would appear that information gathered from the official MOD site has errors, which I have copied into our history section.
(This will be amended in time to reflect the true nature of the Squadron's origin.)

Formed in 1811, served in the Netherlands 1815 where the unit removed a windmill sail to cross a river in a tactical withdrawal from hostile forces, hence the three sailed windmill as a unit emblem. Joined 22 Engineer Regiment in Benghazi 1951. The Squadron has come under various unit names, the last three being 3 Independent, 3 Field and now 3 Armoured Engineer Squadron. Drawing from members history's the unit has served in Libya,Suez Canal Zone, Jordan, Hong Kong Oman, Rhodesia, Norway, Cyprus, Australia, Northern Ireland, Belieze, Falklands, Canada and the Balkans. The Squadron returned in November 2004 from a tour of duty in Iraq, Op Telic 4.

Well thats all gents, lets make this work for us.

Peter Markham and Dave Davies

Whats it like on this side, is the beer any better, and the main question is Field mouse Markham still with us or has he conceded defeat and become a P.O.M.

Hi Peter,
Pity about losing the old site but at least we now have no limit on our photos.
